“Disruption of democracy” and “violation of human rights” are traditional arguments of Western countries, which they use to explain their interference in the internal affairs of other states. To combat the politicization of human rights issues, members of the CIS have proposed the creation of their own human rights commis-sion. As it was noted at the March meeting of the relevant expert group, it should contribute to strengthening the humanitarian dimension of integration. The purpose of this article is to understand what goals would be set for such a body and how it would work.
