AB  - In the last decade various techniques have been developed to investigate biointerfaces on a molecular level. Here, their impact for biointerface analysis is reviewed with emphasis on biosensor research. In order to demonstrate the power and limitations of local probe methods the imaging and force spectroscopy on single molecules are presented in details.
