TY - JOUR AB - The novel cyclopentadiene HMe4C5CH2CMe2py [py = 2-(4-tert-butyl)pyridyl] 2H has been prepared from tetramethylfulvene and lithiated 2-isopropyl-4-tert-butylpyridine. Lithiation of 2H with Bu n Li and subsequent reaction with FeCl2 yields the ferrocene (2) 2Fe, which crystallizes in the triclinic space group P (1) with a = 8.368(1), b = 8.468(1), c = 14.313(1) Å, [alpha] = 80.64(1), [beta] = 86.67(1), [gamma] = 80.12(1)° and V = 985.4(2) Å (3).
