AB  - The cryptophycins are cyclic depsipeptides with tumour-selective cytotoxicity. A short and efficient synthesis of the pharmacologically most interesting representative (cryptophycin 52) was developed and used for the synthesis of analogues. Moreover, the accessibility of diastereomers of the unit A building block was investigated.
