TY - THES AB - Synthetic pathways to diarylethene photoswitches with elongated konjugated Systems are discribed. The synthesis of photoswitches with absorption bands in the visible region is important for the further use of the switches as resonance energy acceptors. By switching the diarylethenes between two states a reversible modulation of fluorescence of different fluorophores can be achieved. Photoswitchable fluorescence systems are studied non covalently in solution and polymerfilms. Other diarylethenes are covalently attached to rhodamines to form photoswitchable fluorophores.
