In ihrem Hauptteil zeigt die Studie organisationsgeschichtliche Entwicklungslinien der Europäischen Fernsehpartnerschaft in enger Verbindung zu den Lebensläufen ihrer bedeutendsten Protagonisten auf und diskutiert in einem zweiten Teil die erkenntnistheoretischen Probleme der Geschichte komplexer Prozesse im Allgemeinen.

The origins and the development of the European partnership in television programme-exchange can be characterised and narrated as as a complex sensemaking-process, using the terminology of Karl Weick and his approach in organisational science.

In its main part the study outlines the organisational history of European television partnership in close relation to the biographies of its most influential protagonists and discusses in a second part the epistemological problems of the history of complex processes in general.
